Albuquerque soldier dies in Afghanistan

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Department of Defense announced on Wednesday that an Albuquerque soldier died while in Afghanistan.

The DOD says that Staff Sgt. Matthew Q. McClintock died on Tuesday from wounds “suffered when the enemy attacked his unit.” He was supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

McClintock was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group.

Officials are currently investigating.
