ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It took time to work out but, Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm finally has signed a multi-fight contract extension with UFC. Holm’s manager Lenny Fresquez confirmed to KRQE Sports that the deal was made but would not discuss the terms.
Holm’s trainer Mike Winkeljohn expressed his joy about the deal being finished.
“It’s great having that out of the way,” said WInkeljohn. “Now we can focus on the next fight and what she needs to do to get better at her skills. There are some things, believe it or not, that she didn’t do well with Ronda that we need to fix.”
Holm became UFC champion in November after a stunning defeat of then champion Ronda Rousey.
A rematch between the fighters have been discussed as a possibility for UFC 200 in Las Vegas in July. With Holm’s camp pushing for an earlier fight date there has been a lot of speculation that Holm could possibly meet Meisha Tate before a rematch with Rousey. UFC is expected to make some sort of announcement on a fight soon.
