Eddy County declared disaster area after storm

Eddy County Snow

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – Eddy County has officially been declared a disaster area following last month’s storm.

The county got more than a foot of snow and the blizzard conditions left drifts 8 to 10 feet high, bringing pretty much everything to a halt. Businesses and roads were shut down, along with oil rigs and the airport.

The county issued the declaration in an effort to get federal funds to help with clean-up costs. Those costs are still being tallied.
