Stabbing Under Investigation

One person is in the hospital after he was stabbed, early Saturday morning. Police were called to a home on Soplo Rd SE where the victim was found. The unidentified individual was taken to the hospital It’s not clear what led to the stabbing or how badly the victim was hurt. Police said the extent of the injuries made the call a Violent Crimes call out and that the investigation is ongoing.

Refugee Children to New Mexico

A New Mexico air force base will temporarily house immigrant children from Central America. According to the Alamogordo Daily News, starting next month, Holloman Air Force base will shelter up to 400 children. The children are considered refugees who fled from strife in their homeland and are now trying to reunite with their family in the U.S. The young refugees are currently in the care of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families.

Homeless Man Murder Trial to Stay in Albuquerque

Prosecutors want the trial of two Albuquerque police officers accused of murder to stay in Bernalillo County. The state filed its response in court this week to a defense request to move the trial to another county. In court documents, prosecutors say Albuquerque’s large population would offer a bigger jury pool than anywhere else in the state. They also said Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez should be tried where the killing of James Boyd happened. Defense attorneys had argued media attention surrounding the case made a fair trial in Albuquerque impossible.
