John’s Christmas Eve & Christmas Day Forecast

A winter storm closes in for the weekend...

A disturbance will travel through Colorado Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. This will keep the northern high terrain and Four Corners in the mix for snow showers Christmas Day.

The bigger story, by far, is the storm on the way for the weekend. Scattered snow showers will break out across the west Saturday. Albuquerque will have the shot at picking up an inch or two of snow as well. Then the storm works into the east Saturday night and Sunday. Widespread snow is expected for southeastern and east central New Mexico. As the snow breaks out a back door cold front will crank up the winds. This will make travel treacherous to even dangerous across parts of the east. A foot of snow is not out of the question for parts of the east.

The storm clears out Sunday night, but the cold air is here to stay for much of next week with afternoon highs 15° – 25° below normal.
