Structure fire interrupts Albuquerque morning commute

Structure fire near 2nd Street SW and Desert Rd

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Fire Department actively worked to put out an early morning fire in an industrial complex in southwest Albuquerque Wednesday near 2nd Street SW and Desert Rd.

Heavy plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the structure as firefighters worked to get the fire under control.

The Rail Runner service did suspend its route from Albuquerque to Belen temporarily and 2nd St SW was closed from Clark Rd SW to Lagunitas Ln SW.

Firefighters believe there is $400,000 worth of damage. The cause is under investigation.
