Court orders mental evaluation for repeat burglary suspect

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A state District Court judge ordered a mental evaluation for repeat burglary suspect whose charges keep getting dropped.  Anthony Chavez, 24, will now be sent to a behavioral health center to determine whether he’s competent to stand trial in the 11 different burglary cases pending against him.

Chavez was previously accused of a string of burglaries in Albuquerque from 2010 through 2013. Those charges were dismissed after a doctor found him incompetent to stand trial.
