ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Cassidy Cox was about six years old when she started going with her father and brother to the archery shop. Dad and brother were there to practice for hunting season. At some point Cassidy got a bow and arrow in her hand and her life has not been the same since.
Cox has represented herself well in the sport of archery. The Manzano High senior has even held a spot on team USA for the last two years. In March Cassidy will get another huge opportunity to represent for team USA.
Cassidy Cox has earned a spot to the World Archery Federations Indoor Championships in Turkey. “I am really excited,” said Cassidy. “It probably didn’t hit me for a while. Prior to that I was really nervous that I wasn’t going to make the team. I think for a little while I was kind of in shock.”
The competition will be in March. Cassidy earned a spot on the team at the USA Indoor Archery Trails in Lansing Michigan last weekend. The top three in each division were named to the team. When talking about the upcoming event Cassidy said, “I will just keep up the practicing and come in here everyday and just shoot, workout and just keep myself in shape and stay calm when competition comes.”
