ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man, Shaun Ryals, who brutally murdered his girlfriend, has been convicted.
The 22-year-old stabbed 19-year-old Guadalupe Morales more than 30 times after an argument at his apartment back in 2013.
Ryals then put her body in the trunk of a car she had stolen, drove it behind the Walmart near Coors and I-40 and set it on fire.
Ryals testified he and Morales had been drinking heavily and he had no memory of what happened. Because of this, the judge found him guilty of second degree murder as opposed to first in addition to arson and tampering with evidence.
Ryals will spend the next 25 years behind bars.
