ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The director of operations for the University of New Mexico’s Men’s Basketball Team is on a leave of absence while officials review his purchasing card activity.

Cody Hopkins is responsible for travel, hotel, and food payments for the team. Hopkins has been the director of operations since the fall of 2014.

UNM Athletics says that they are working with UNM Internal Auditing to look into “recent transactions for basketball operations statements that have not been reconciled.”

“We are working closely with Internal Auditing in assessing recent transactions from Hopkins’ purchasing card,” said Paul Krebs, Vice President for Athletics. “We are requesting additional documentation and records from Hopkins, who is cooperating with the process. Once the audit is complete, all records will be reviewed by the proper authorities.”

The audit is expected to take several weeks.
