Troops honored, welcomed home in Santa Fe

SANTA FE (KRQE) On Tuesday, a group of New Mexico guardsmen received a warm welcome home ahead of Christmas.

The 38 soldiers of Company C, First Battalion, 171st Aviation Regiment were deployed in February. Overseas they provided air-medic transport for wounded forces deployed to Kuwait and Iraq.

A ceremony led by Santa Fe’s mayor, Governor Susana Martinez and the troop’s families took place at Santa Fe’s airport to honor their absence for the last ten months. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
