Bernalillo County deputies deliver care packages to families

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Bernalillo County deputies brought Christmas to the doors of needy families Tuesday.

Since Thanksgiving, deputies have been collecting toys and food to make Tuesday happen. They spent Tuesday morning packing boxes for the big payoff.

KRQE News 13 rode with them as deputies dropped off the donations to hungry families.

The families were recommended by churches, non-profits and law enforcement officers.

Deputies do this to bring the community together.

“We also do it to build those relationships within our community. We don’t want people to just see law enforcement when they are having a bad day. We want them to see us on days like this, so we can provide something to them,” said Sid Covington, of Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office.

Nearly 100 families got a care package.
