Babysitter accused of drinking, getting naked in public

SANTA FE (KRQE) – He started the day as a babysitter and ended it naked on the side of the road.

Santa Fe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 29-year-old Antonio Montowine and his wife, 28-year-old Rebecca Green, for child abuse last week.

Deputies found Montowine naked with his clothes thrown in the road in a residential area near Agua Fria Elementary School.

They say he’d been drinking.

It began before 5 p.m. when an off-duty Santa Fe Police officer said he saw Montowine getting drunk at a park when he was supposed to be watching three kids.

The investigation revealed Montowine and Green went to a park with their 5-year-old son and two other boys they were babysitting, ages 7 and 10.

Green said she left to use the restroom, and she never returned.

Meanwhile, the Santa Fe Police officer said Montowine started yelling profanities at him.

“He takes off running with his alcohol bottle. I go to get the keys to my unit,” said Sgt. David Webb with Santa Fe Police. “He ditched the bottle somewhere in a bush.”

Deputies said the kids ran off too.

The officer pulled a Taser on Montowine as he tried to handcuff him.

“At first, I told him put your hands behind your back,” Sgt. Webb said. “He pulls it away, and I was like, ‘Okay.’ Taser comes out and then he stripped. I don’t know what the hell that was about.”

“I don’t know why I’m naked on the street. Why am I naked on the street?” Montowine asked deputies.

Deputies found the children with Montowine’s wife, Green.

“Yeah, they’re fine. They crossed the street by themselves,” she told a deputy.

Deputies were not convinced.

The kids waited outside, locked out of the apartment with Green, who had also been drinking, according to deputies.

“Have you been drinking or anything today, ma’am?” a deputy asked.

“I haven’t been drinking whatever Antonio was drinking,” she responded.

“You have or haven’t?” the deputy tried to clarify.

“I was drinking earlier. I’m fine now,” Green said.

She told deputies why she left the park.

“Why didn’t you go back to the kids?” a deputy asked.

“Because I thought they were fine,” she said.

“Well, you were wrong,” a deputy told her.

Montowine was taken to the hospital before he and green were arrested for child abuse.

Deputies called the father of the two boys who were being looked after.

He picked up his kids, along with Green and Montowine’s son since the couple went to jail. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
