Sandia Peak Tram to replace tram cars

Sandia Peak Tram

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Sandia Peak Tram is getting spruced up just in time for its 50th birthday.

The Sandia Peak Tram is retiring the current tram cars, which have been in service since the 1980’s, and getting new ones. It will be the third time the cars have been replaced.

The cars will be shipped to Houston from the Swiss company that makes them, and then delivered by truck to Albuquerque.

The cars will still be blue but the rest of the design will be undecided until May.
