Scholarship established in memory of shooting victim

Jaydon Chavez-Silver

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The memory of the Manzano High School student killed in a drive-by shooting this summer will live on through other students.

A scholarship has been set up in honor of Jaydon Chavez-Silver. The teen was shot and killed in a drive-by while hanging out with a group of friends in June. Chavez-Silver was a football player and wrestler.

The $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Manzano High athlete who has been involved in helping the community.

The first scholarship will go to someone in the class of 2016, which was Jaydon’s class. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
