Chris’ Friday Afternoon Forecast

Get ready for wind, cold and mountain snow as we head into the weekend.   The wind is going to crank up ahead of a cold front that is targeting New Mexico for tonight.   The strongest wind will be along the Central Mountain Chain and into the Eastern Plains tonight into early Saturday morning.   Ahead of the front for this afternoon, temperatures will remain warmer than normal for this time of the year.   The front then approaches later tonight and this will bring showers into New Mexico overnight tonight.   The best chance for snow will be across northern and western New Mexico.   That is where areas could get 2-6″ of snow will fall with isolated higher totals in the highest peaks of the Northern Mountains.   Behind the front, temperatures will take a tumble.  But, the temperatures for the weekend will be seasonable for this time of the year.   Another front will reinforce the cold air and it could bring spot snow to Northern New Mexico to begin next week.
