Mayor Berry lights New Mexico’s largest menorah

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE)– The largest menorah in the state lit up Civic Plaza Sunday night.

Mayor Richard Berry lit the menorah to celebrate the first night of the Jewish holiday Hanukkah.

The annual lighting is a project of Chabad of New Mexico.

A Jewish dinner and live entertainment followed the lighting.

The menorah is a nine branch candle holder that symbolizes the holiday’s spirit and is a metaphor for bringing light and warmth into a dark world.
