SANTA FE (KRQE) – A Santa Fe High School student was arrested Thursday afternoon for having a pellet gun on school campus. The weapon was found after another student notified school officials of a social media threat to ‘shoot up SFH.’
School officials organized a shelter in place after the threat, posted on Snapchat, was shown to administrators. The photo shows a gun, with the text ‘Boutta go shoot up SFH.’
Santa Fe Police Lieutenant Michele Williams told KRQE News 13 officers received the call from campus at 12:25 p.m. Thursday. By 12:30 p.m., Williams said a 15-year-old male student was in custody for allegedly making the threat.
Police said the student also admitted to officers he had a Daisy airsoft pistol in his vehicle, which was parked on campus.
Investigators conducted a sweep of the school, and gave the all-clear shortly afterward.
Williams said the 15-year-old faces a felony charge of unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon on school campus. She said the student is still being interviewed by detectives, and it’s unclear why he posted the threat in the first place.
