ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) – Actor and filmmaker Clint Eastwood visited Holloman Air Force Base while shooting footage for his upcoming biopic of pilot Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger.
The Alamogordo Daily News reports that Eastwood and his crew were at the base Wednesday. Holloman Director of Media Relations Arlan Ponder says the crew shot aerial footage during normal training operations and then participated in a training flight.
The film is an adaptation of Sullenberger’s 2009 memoir, which chronicled his personal history before he famously landed a plane in the Hudson River in New York in 2009 after the plane struck a flock of Canadian geese.
Alamogordo and Cloudcroft residents were able to meet Eastwood while he was at an Italian restaurant in Alamogordo on Tuesday.
