ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A nearly two hour SWAT standoff at an Albuquerque restaurant has finally come to an end. It involved a suspected burglar caught in the act and the suspect put on quite a show for KRQE News 13 cameras when he was arrested.
Fuddruckers likely won’t be serving out any burgers Thursday thanks to what police say a repeat offender did there. It all started around 7 am when the alarm at the restaurant went off.
The Albuquerque Police Department says when they got here they found 26-year-old Felix Martinez on the roof. When he wouldn’t come down, officers called in the SWAT team. After about two hours of trying to talk Martinez out of the store, SWAT and a K-9 unit entered the restaurant.
Police say the dog found Martinez and bit him. He was then arrested.
KRQE News 13 cameras were there his is video of Martinez flipping off KRQE News 13 crews, spitting at the cameras and once he was finally put in the patrol unit he flashed us a smile and then blew a kiss.
Police say this isn’t his first run in with the law. According to court records, Martinez has been arrested at least four times in the last year for things like drugs and shoplifting.
Martinez is facing burglary charges in this incident. He was taken to a local hospital and treated for the dog bite.
