ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Eldorado Eagles are headed to the Class 6A State Championship Game for the first time since 2008 after beating the Las Cruces Bulldawgs 44-42. The last time the Eagles were in the final game they were playing Las Cruces.

The Bulldawgs not only beat Eldorado that season but, finished with a perfect record. That was not the case Friday afternoon in the Class 6A Semifinals. The Eagles used a 38 yard field goal from Andrew Shelley to end the season for the Bulldawgs at the Field of Dreams in Las Cruces.

Eldorado will now get the winner of Mayfield and Cleveland. Easton Bruere was holding a championship trophy last season. The former Rio Rancho star spent his first collegiate season as a redshirt quarterback at Butler Community College.
