Giving Tuesday aims to give back to the community

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – GivingTuesday is an initiative that encourages people across the world to give to nonprofit organizations through volunteerism and monetary donations in order to make a positive impact in their communities. In New Mexico, there are over 70 nonprofits that have joined forces by creating #GivingTuesdayNM, a statewide initiative to communicate the importance of giving and to highlight the amazing work and impact being made by nonprofits across New Mexico.

The purpose of #GivingTuesdayNM is to encourage people in our communities to stop, take a moment to find an organization that is doing work that is meaningful to them and support that work through in-kind donations, volunteer hours and/or a year-end donation. Participating nonprofits are working together to communicate and market #GivingTuesdayNM through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the dedicated webpage on the Center for Nonprofit Excellence website. Participating nonprofits are using social media to encourage their supporters to give, but to also spread the word about this statewide day of giving.
