EDGEWOOD, N.M. (KRQE) – After a desperate plea, the owner of a fattened, potbellied pig was reunited with her pet.
Cookie the pig wandered off from her home and into town twice this weekend, leaving the owner on the hunt.
Lori White put up signs after Cookie broke out of her pin and took off from their Edgewood home.
And people who’ve read them said it’s a first. “Strange, just odd, I mean you’re not going to see a pig running around too often,” said one person.
White says the 60-pound, 6-month old pig is a big part of her family and desperately wanted to find her.
“She uses the dog door,” said White. “She comes when you call her and I mean the dogs play with her,” added White. “She likes her belly rubbed and I’m teaching her to sit.”
On Monday, White says Cookie was found after someone saw the flyer, bringing a big part of White’s family home.
White says Cookie doesn’t usually escape.“The gate stays open just so we don’t have to open and close it,” said White.
She says she is going to make a stronger pen that Cookie can’t break out of.
