Lantern Festival Goes on as Planned

The Sandia Speedway may get a citation after the controversial Lantern Fest went on as planned Saturday night there were questions about whether the event would happen after county officials said it wasn’t allowed. They say the Sandia Speedway has a special permit for race events and since Lantern Fest is not a race it would be a violation to have the events, but organizers added the “world’s slowest race” to try and comply with county rules. Two solar power cars are “racing” down the track as slow as they can for the entire event. The county says it can’t stop the fest, but they do plan to cite the speedway.
