TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office and Albuquerque Public Schools have confirmed a Manzano High School junior was killed in a crash with a semi on I-40.
It happened Friday morning on westbound I-40 near Tijeras. Deputies say a semi and a car collided on the freeway, causing a fire.
The 16-year-old driver was killed. Neither deputies nor school officials are releasing his name.
At Friday night’s Manzano High football game, there were signs up in tribute to that young student.
