TIJERAS, N.M. (KRQE) – Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a deadly crash. The crash shut down I-40 near the Tijeras exit Friday morning.
Officials say it happened just after 6:00 a.m. At some point contact was made between a passenger car and semi. The car became stuck underneath the semi and was dragged about a quarter mile.
BCSO says when deputies arrived the trailer of the semi was fully engulfed in flames.
The driver of the car was killed in the incident. Officials have not released the identity of the victim.
At this time, the interstate is now open, but traffic has been reduced to one lane at the site of the crash.
