RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) – The mayor of Rio Rancho is asking the community to change up its holiday decorations this year as a way to honor officers.

Mayor Gregg Hull is asking residents and businesses to go blue. Many porch lights in that city were turned blue this summer after Rio Rancho Police Officer Gregg Benner was shot and killed. In the weeks since Officer Daniel Webster’s murder, blue ribbons have been going up across Rio Rancho and Albuquerque.

Mayor Hull says the bluest business, house and street will receive a special delivery of cookies and hot chocolate.
