ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Two men are going to federal prison for defrauding the Kinesio Tape company, based in New Mexico.

The company makes therapeutic elastic tape used by many professional athletes.

Federal investigators say 68-year-old John Hope and 43-year-old Johannes Jarvis, who worked for the company, created a fake company to act as middle-man and pocketed more than $1 million.

The indictment says Hope and Jarvis used some of the money for booze and prostitutes.

They were sentenced to between 3 and 4 years in prison and ordered to pay $2 million in restitution.
