ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The cold weather is here and that means summer activities like the Downtown Grower’s Market are packing things up. This Saturday, November 7, will be their final market for the season. This morning, we met a few of the vendors you still have a chance to go check out.
Diana Mallea, the woman behind Kitchen Witch, creates a line of skincare that’s perfect for our super dry climate. She became inspired to do this when she moved here 21 years ago from Washington D.C. All ingredients are natural, and she’s even got stuff for the men out there (products for beards, for example). She’s been with the Downtown Growers Market for 12 years. You can find her products on Etsy otherwise.
Dory Wegrzyn and Casey Holland are with Red Tractor Farm. They have worked in community and affordable housing development for over 25 years in NM. In the past 8 years they have been farming and working with local agricultural organizations and groups to create community-based farming activities in the Rio Grande Valley. Dory is also a board member and participant in Agricultural Network Farmer’s Cooperative and an avid advocate for woman and social justice in farm ownership, land and water conservation/stewardship practices.
