CYFD closing Lincoln Pines Juvenile Detention Center

RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico juvenile detention center will soon close its doors. Officials at CYFD are taking steps to close the Lincoln Pines Juvenile Detention Center near Ruidoso.

This comes after allegations surfaced that one of its employees had an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old inmate. That therapist, Juile Ann Barham, is now awaiting trial on several charges.

The department is looking for new jobs for dozens of employees, some have already been transferred.

The inmates have been placed in the state’s two other juvenile detention centers.
