Lobo women and freshmen handle Western

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – It was division one versus division two but, you could still tell that Yvonne Sanchez’s Lobo women’s basketball team will be very deep this season. The Lobos outlasted Western New Mexico 78-41 Wednesday night. Freshman post player Jasia Nunn led all scorers with 18 points and 7 rebounds.

Guard Jannon Otto also had double digits her in her first competition as a Lobo. The Mountain West Preseason Freshman of the Year scored 10 points in her debut. In fact, the Lobos highly touted freshman class produced 33 of the Lobos 78 points. Senior guard Bryce Owens had 9 points in the win along with Center Whitney Johnson.

Before the game the Lobos wore black warm up tops honoring the memory of fallen police officer Daniel Webster. The Lobos will host New Mexico Highlands in their final exhibition game Saturday.
