ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The kindergarten teacher caught with child pornography got a big break in court Thursday.

The judge reduced the $380,000 bond initially set for Joshua Weitz to $25,000 cash or surety. This means he only needs $2,500 to get out of jail now.

Weitz, a teacher at Whittier Elementary, was arrested Wednesday after investigators say they found around 40 files containing child porn on his computer.

Thursday, the judge agreed to reduce the bond after a recommendation from pretrial services, but set addition guidelines; he could not have contact with minors.

Weitz remains on paid leave from Albuquerque Public Schools.
