Video shows man groping woman in downtown Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – An Albuquerque man has posted a video on YouTube showing a guy groping a woman in the middle of downtown.

He called the video “Perv Alert.” The video now has a lot of people downtown talking.

“It kind of scares people from coming downtown,” said Jude Ortiz.

It happened near 4th and Gold in front of Amy Biehl High School. The man gropes a woman in a Halloween costume and then runs off.

“I’m kind of astounded and shocked that that would happen, like that’s pretty crazy,” said Breeanna Gabaldon.

While some can’t believe what they’re watching, others said it’s unfortunately just another weekend night downtown.

“Working down here I see people doing crazy stuff all the time,” said Joshua Curtis.

For Lauren Ortiz, he was upset to learn the groping episode happened right next to his restaurant.

“I don’t really like it because you know it’s not good for business,” said Ortiz.

He’s only been open for a few months and said this is not the grand opening he hoped for.

“We want people to come downtown rather than be afraid to come downtown,” said Ortiz.

As for the man who recorded it all and posted the video online, he tells KRQE News 13 he did it to show problems plaguing not just downtown, but all over the nation.

KRQE News 13 also showed Albuquerque police the video. They said, while it’s concerning, they would need the victim to come forward and file a police report before they can go after the groper. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
