People mourned the loss of Albuquerque Police Officer Daniel Webster at a public memorial on Saturday. It was displayed at Strong-Thorne Chapel near I-25. The memorial reflected Webster’s career in the military and law enforcement. On display was combat gear and police equipment. There was also a handmade banner with signatures from an Albuquerque elementary school.
In a letter to the Albuquerque Journal, Officer Webster’s mother thanked the City of Albuquerque and its residents. She told the Journal she and her family will never forget the love and concern the people have shown them because of Officer Webster. Zia graphics has donated T-shirts to a local store to help raise money for the Webster family. The shirts were created by Officer Webster’s daughters and a group of police wives. The shirts are available at New Mexico Look location for $20.
A motorcyclist is recovering at an Albuquerque hospital after a crash on southbound I-25 near Lead. Albuquerque police said the motorcyclist lost control and fell off his bike around midnight Sunday. They said a car on I-25 ran over him. He was taken to a hospital. He is in critical condition.
Deputies and police spent Saturday night monitoring roadways while kids trick or treated. Law enforcement had DWI checkpoints set up throughout the county, stopping cars and catching drunk drivers. No word yet on how many arrests were made.
