ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – As Albuquerque Public Schools students help put on a huge haunted house, they’re also turning it into a frightening lesson.
“It’s fun, it’s fun to scare people,” said Student Jade Percival.
Percival is just one of the many students in the Career Enrichment Center’s cosmetology class.
“We give them a lesson, we tell them how to use the product, and then we let them run with it,” said Teacher Cecilia Romero.
Their latest lesson is costume makeup.
“It’s definitely something that is really fun to do,” said Percival.
The students get to showcase their scary work Saturday at the school’s annual haunted house.
“I like to know that I can be a part of this,” said Percival.
While Percival works on a realistic wound, other students are also practicing their best scrapes and gashes with makeup.
“There will be a lot of people with just really awful wounds,” said Percival.
The students will do the makeup for all the haunted house actors.
“They love it,” said Romero. “They love to do all this stuff so it excites me when I see them excited.”
The haunted house is Saturday. All proceeds go back to the school.
