Albuquerque gynecologist accused of forcing employee to have sex

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A 73-year-old Albuquerque gynecologist is facing some alarming allegations lined out in a 27-page lawsuit filed just last month.

Southwest Gynecologic Oncology Associates (SWGOA) and Dr. Karen Finkelstein filed the lawsuit against Finkelstein’s former partner, Dr. Francisco Ampuero.

Ampuero has held his license for nearly 40 years. He was the former president of SWGOA for nearly six years.

The lawsuit claims Ampuero had sex with an employee and sexual relations with a patient.

The lawsuit states an employee accused Ampuero of sexually abusing her for years. The employee, not named in the lawsuit, claims Ampuero made her have sex with him in order to keep her job. The lawsuit states the employee was, “incompetent in managing billing, hid checks from the practice, overcharged persons and failed to report it.” The employee was later terminated by Finkelstein.

The lawsuit also claims Ampuero had a sexual relationship with a patient since 2013. It goes onto state Ampuero would select his patients based on their “physical characteristics” and would instruct his staff to send the “less desirable” women to other doctors.

It states, because of this, Ampuero violated his ethical duties to his profession.

Ampuero is no longer working at the clinic. He stepped down as president of SWGOA in July.

Finkelstein’s attorney, Douglas Baker, did not return KRQE News 13’s phone calls.

In a letter to SWGOA, the employee who Finkelstein fired, plans to file a lawsuit for wrongful termination.
