ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – A Rio Arriba County employee who was arrested for driving while on heroin has resigned.
Deputies found 33-year-old Carlos Trujillo parked behind a trailer in Espanola with recent injection marks on his arms.
Trujillo admitted to using heroin and Xanax that morning. He was the public information officer for the county, but sent in his resignation and an apology for his addiction.
Online court records show Trujillo was convicted of DWI back in 2012 as well.
He also served as the campaign manager for Representative Ben Ray Lujan in 2008.
