District play starts in high school football

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The West Mesa Mustangs own an upset 53 to 44 victory over the Valley Vikings. The win was big for the Mustangs who can get a leg up in what is a wide open district 5 in 6A football. The season has been unusual for perennial power Mayfield.

The Trojans came close to losing their fourth game of the season but, where able to rally in a district 3 6A showdown against Onate. Onate would build up a 17 to nothing advantage only to watch Mayfield rally for a 31 to 24 victory. In the ranks of class 5A the Del Norte Knights clobbered Bernalillo 42 to 3.
