ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A United Airlines flight from Houston to San Francisco was diverted to the Albuquerque International Sunport Tuesday after the co-pilot on board passed out.

The 787 landed at the Sunport around 8:15 and the passengers were bused to the terminal. An airport spokesperson said, the first officer suffered a medical issue and passed out during the flight.

Airport spokesman Daniel Jiron says the co-pilot regained consciousness and was able to walk off the flight on his own after landing. He was taken to an area hospital. The airline is working to accommodate the 177 passengers on board. The 787 was staffed with 2 pilots and 8 flight attendants.

In a statement United Airlines says: “United flight 1614, en route from Houston to San Francisco, diverted to Albuquerque this morning when a crew member became ill. The crew followed procedures and the aircraft landed safely. We are working to get our customers to their final destinations.”

Officials say there were no other issues with the plane.
