Video captures crash after purse snatching victims pursue suspects

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The Albuquerque Police Department confirmed that a purse snatching started a car crash that left a bit of a traffic mess at Menaul and I-25.

A friend of the victim, whose purse was stolen, told KRQE News 13 that the incident began down the street when his car was blocked in by two vehicles.

“This white car got behind us and another in front of us and they came running to our car.” Avelino Lucero said.

According to Lucero, one of the suspects tried hitting them with a club.

“They grabbed her (friend) purse and just took off,” Lucero said.

Lucero tried following the two cars as they sped-off east on Menaul. Just seconds later, they arrived at a crash involving one of the cars, Lucero said, that blocked him in.

Police recovered the woman’s purse at the scene of the crash.
