Police arrest man for stealing vehicle in northwest Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Police say they were on the scene at an Albuquerque Sonic after calls of a stolen vehicle.

On Tuesday, officers arrived near Central and Coors where the victim said someone took off in his car. He said that he got out to say hello to friends when the suspect got into his black Jaguar and went for a ride.

Police say the suspect then crashed the stolen vehicle in the front yard of a home on the 800 block of 58th Street.

Authorities later took Alex Sanchez into custody. Sanchez will be charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, reckless driving and DWI.
