Record heat on Sunday in Albuquerque as the September Sizzle continued. Albuquerque hit 91°breaking our old record of 90° set back in 1953 and it is the 7th time this month we were in the 90s. Santa Fe broke a record high while Farmington and Grants came within a degree of their record temps. Albuquerque and other parts of New Mexico could come close to record highs once again to start the week. The dry, warm weather are all thanks to a big dome of high pressure that is hanging out over the region. This high is acting like a brick wall by not letting any moisture or storm systems roll into New Mexico. It looks like the next changes could occur next weekend for Balloon Fiesta. A cold front could bring shower chances back along with wind and cooler temperatures. We will continue to watch this very closely.
