HOBBS N.M. (KRQE) – By day Reanna Molinaro is a New Mexico police officer but she has another passion. She hopes American Idol will launch her into stardom.
Now big things are happening for this Hobbs woman. This weekend she has her next big audition.
The 24-year-old says she has been singing since she can remember.
“Even when I was two years old I would get up on any stage I could and grab whatever I thought was a good microphone and go at it,” said Molinaro.
Molinaro auditioned for the first round for American idol back in June. Now she’ll be trying out in front of the celebrity judges this weekend in Denver.
“I’m freaking out a little, you know I mean it’s J-Lo, you know and Keith Urban, these are big people, Harry Connick Jr.,” she said
When she’s not singing, Molinaro has another passion. She’s a police officer with the Hobbs police force.
She says she is proud to be a police officer and hopes to use this as an opportunity to shine a positive light on law enforcement.
“’I’m absolutely willing to be that voice for the thin blue line, because you know they get that one story and they think every cop is bad but that’s one in a million,” said Molinaro.
She says her department has been extremely supportive of her dream and hopes that the rest of New Mexico will join in and support her as well.
“I’m gonna represent New Mexico as best I can and I want everybody to vote for me if I get that far, so everybody needs to watch,” she said.
If the judges give Molinaro their stamp of approval, she will get that golden ticket to Los Angeles. She says she hasn’t decided yet what she will be singing.
