Crash Shuts Down Freeway
Interstate 25 southbound was shut down at Comanche early Sunday morning after a serious crash. Albuquerque police said it happened around 4 a.m. They said the crash is a result of a wrong way driver, involving two cars. No names have been released.
Suspect on the Run, Following Robbery
Police are on the hunt for an armed suspect after they said a Craigslist buy went wrong. Officers said the victim met up with the suspect in northeast Albuquerque early Sunday morning to buy a car he saw in a Craigslist ad. During the transaction, police said the seller, who had a gun, took a large amount of the buyer’s money, then, fled in the vehicle he was selling. The seller then crashed the car into a home and fled on foot. The buyer ran after him. During the chase, police said the suspect fired shots at the buyer. No one was hurt. Police are actively searching for the suspect.
The investigation continues into a stabbing that left one person injured in northeast Albuquerque. It happened at an apartment complex where residents say they are worried about their safety. On Friday, APD found one man stabbed at Winrock Villas on Pennsylvania near I-40. That man is expected to survive. Several other people were questioned by officers at the scene. Police arrested Jerome Madrid, 30, has been charged with a misdemeanor battery charge. A man claiming to be Madrid’s father told KRQE News 13 he rents from David Shaykin. KRQE News 13 reported about Shaykin in August after neighbors said he wrote threatening messages to them from jail. He has since been released.
