Governor Martinez goes sky diving for first time

SOCORRO, N.M. (KRQE) – Governor Martinez took a leap of faith in Socorro, New Mexico. On Saturday, the New Mexico governor went sky diving for the first time as the locals got a front row seat for all the action.

Before she descended, she was in the sky for less than an hour, nearly 10,000 feet in the air.

“I didn’t feel a thing. I was not nervous. I was not scared. I wanted everyone to see the New Mexico true, because these are the exciting things you can do in New Mexico when you come here,” said Martinez.

When she finally landed, she showed her excitement.

“When you jump, it’s like, a scream of whoa, this is awesome, lets get this air that makes your cheeks flap a lot,” said Martinez.

Even though she’s not working out of the office on Saturday, she’s still got one thing on her mind, showing off her state.

“It’s a place for activities. It’s a place to see the beautiful enchanted land,” said Martinez.

So could we see the governor hit the Land of Enchantment skies again? “Again, and again, and again absolutely,” said Martinez. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
