Theater Thursday: ‘Our Lady of Mariposas’

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Our Lady of Mariposas takes place in Southeastern New Mexico in 2002, when a  massive die-off of monarch butterflies took place. Manuel is a working dad and single father.   His daughter Anza loves the monarchs. Kate, their next-door neighbor, tries to help. The themes of family, home, and self become inextricably bound with Anza’s experience as she waits and hopes for the monarchs to return.

Mariposas will be on stage at the Wells Fargo Theater at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. It will be on stage only from September 17 to 20. Shows are Thursday through Saturday, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, 2 p.m. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
