DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) – Deming residents are remembering a teen killed by a train this weekend.

16-year-old Eduardo Chavira was hit Sunday night while crossing the tracks near Railroad Avenue and North Pearl Street.

Police tell the Deming Headlight that Chavira was with a group of teens trying to beat the train. Chavira was hit and died at the hospital. The other teens were not hurt.

This week Deming High students put up balloons at Milo Park in Chavira’s honor.
