Stick shift foils Albuquerque woman’s carjacking plan

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – 22-year-old Alicia Herrera is accused of trying to steal a car, but she ran into a problem along the way; she couldn’t drive a stick shift.

According to police, Herrera approached a shopper at Smith’s on Carlisle and Constitution. She told the man she had a gun and demanded his car.

Herrera then waved down another shopper and asked for their help getting the car into reverse because she didn’t know how to work the clutch.

Herrera was arrested.

Police say she was drunk. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover. In order to comment here, you acknowledge you have read and agreed to our Terms of Service.
