ALBUQUERUE (KRQE) – It’s a big deal to turn 15 and the National Hispanic Cultural Center is celebrating it’s own Quinceanera.
Starting off the celebration is the NHCC Foundation Fundraiser. This begins September 12 at 5:30 with a cocktail reception. The reception will also include live entertainment, a silent auctions, and live auction preview. The rest of the evening will feature special performances, dinner, and an after party.
From September 13 through October, 18 the museum will have free admission on Sundays for their exhibit “Quinceanera: Our Story, Our Future.” This exhibit will explore the NHCC’s Art Museum’s permanent collection and celebrate the Center’s fifteenth anniversary and will present the breadth of the museum’s art collection and reflect the diversity of Hispanic/Chicano/Latino art and culture. It will also include community narratives and a participatory gallery.
Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 ¡Globalquerque!, New Mexico’s 11th Annual Celebration of World Music & Culture, returns to the NHCC. This year’s festival features three stages of music from five continents over two nights. Relax in the intimate courtyard setting of the Fountain Stage, enjoy larger bands in the state-of-the-art 691-seat Journal Theatre, or dance to groove-heavy world music on the Plaza Mayor’s outdoor Festival Stage.
