New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services adopts park

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A ceremony was held Thursday morning at Wildflower Park in honor of the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ services adoption.

Different veterans organizations will help keep the park near Balloon Fiesta Park clean and provide a place where veterans feel comfortable taking their families.

Jack R. Fox, the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services Secretary, said there are many reasons for the park adoption.

“To help this park grow and become a very highly used park for the city, for the neighborhood out here, for children in Albuquerque, give a focal point for veterans, veterans groups to help make this park a beautiful place,” said Fox.

At some point, the department says it would like to possibly add a basketball court and new playground equipment.
